The OECD Forum and meeting of the EU Contact Committee
Ivan Klešić, the Auditor General, and his associates officially visited France from 12 to 14 October 2026. On the first day of the visit, 12 October 2026, the OECD Global Forum "Building Trust and Reinforcement Democracy ” was held, which discussed the functioning of states in conditions of demands and expectations in light of new and rapid changes and the need for rapid action while simultaneously ensuring stability and strengthening the resilience of societies and democratic institutions.
On Tuesday and Wednesday (13 and 14 October 2026), the annual meeting of the EU Contact Committee was held, which acts as a forum of the Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions of the European Union member states and the European Court of Auditors, as well as candidate countries for membership in the European Union, which participate in the meeting as active observers.
The first part of the first day of the meeting was marked by a presentation by Whopke Hoekstra, European Commissioner for Climate Action, followed by a discussion by the heads of Supreme Audit Institutions on the challenges related to the green transition and strategic independence. The second part of the meeting presented lessons learned from the work of the Contact Committee member SAIs, through three parallel discussion groups: energy, circular economy and agriculture, forests and water, followed by joint discussions and the adoption of conclusions.
On the second day of the meeting, a panel of experts was held to discuss ways in which Supreme Audit Institutions can contribute to the green transition. The discussion included inspiring examples of good audit practice presented by the SAIs of Italy, Croatia and Spain.
At the end of the meeting, the results of selected activities within the Contact Committee were presented, with an emphasis on cooperation in conducting parallel audits. The Spanish Court of Auditors took over the Contact Committee’s leadership and announced that the next meeting would be held in the second half of the next year in Madrid.
