Meeting with Ivana Maletić, Member of the European Court of Auditors

On 7 July 2026, representatives of the State Audit Office (Auditor General Ivan Klešić, Deputy Auditor General Nediljka Rogošić, Assistants Auditor General Lidija Pernar, Ines Stegić, Martina Jurjević and Head of Department Kord Kordić) held a meeting with Ivana Maletić, Member of the European Court of Auditors, and her Head of Cabinet, Ana Jurak. During the meeting, the discussion focused on cooperation between the State Audit Office of the Republic of Croatia and the European Court of Auditors, differences between supreme audit institutions (hereinafter referred to as: SAIs), and the importance of preserving the independence of SAIs and the independence of auditors in performing audit tasks.
Special attention was paid to the findings of the European Court of Auditors regarding the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility, as well as to the new Multiannual Financial Framework of the European Union. Ms Maletić also expressed interest in the results of the performance audits of EU funds recently conducted by the State Audit Office, namely the audits entitled “Award and Use of Grants from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development in the Republic of Croatia” and “Use of Funds Available under the Recovery and Resilience Facility in the Republic of Croatia”.
The participants exchanged experiences and views on the challenges of managing and monitoring the use of European Union funds and emphasized the importance of effective and independent auditing in strengthening transparency and accountability in the use of national and European Union funds.
