The Three Seas Initiative is a platform for the cooperation of 12 EU member states between the Adriatic, Baltic and Black Seas. It is pro-European in nature and complements other forms of regional cooperation, but at the same time, it is also a platform for strengthening transatlantic ties. The main goal is cooperation and support in the implementation of joint cross-border strategic projects with an emphasis on energy, transport and digital connectivity of the countries involved. The initiative should contribute to the balanced economic development of the European Union and the reduction of the existing differences in development between the member states of the Union and the closing of the large infrastructure gap in relation to Western European countries.
Given the importance of the goals that are planned to be achieved and the significant financial resources that are invested for their realization, the SAIs recognized the need and justification of a systematic review of their role in relation to the Three Seas Initiative, which began at this meeting. As an expression of readiness for cooperation and joint activities related to the Three Seas Initiative, the Supreme Audit Institutions of the countries participating in the Initiative during the meeting adopted a joint declaration on cooperation.
After the meeting in the State Audit Office of Poland, a meeting was held in the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland, which provided support for the initiative and future audit activities of the participating countries aimed at monitoring the achievement of national strategic goals and financial results.
