PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTACT COMMITTEE EU ACTIVITY MEETING ON COOPERATIVE AUDITS

Objavljeno 30. 3. 2026. The kick-off meeting on the “Cooperative Audit” activities, led by the Supreme Audit Institutions of Belgium and France within the framework of the Contact Committee, was attended by representatives of the State Audit Office of the Republic of Croatia. The meeting took place in Paris on 18 March 2026 and marked the beginning of the exchange of initial experiences and approaches to cooperative audits.
The aim of the activity is to strengthen cooperation between EU Supreme Audit Institutions. It is based on the principles of INTOSAI, INTOSAI GUID 9000 and the Lima Declaration, emphasizing that the exchange of knowledge, methodologies and experiences is essential for improving audit effectiveness and accountability. Furthermore, it is intended to highlight the regular exchange between auditors and experts on cooperative audit practices, especially in cross-border contexts. Discussions during the meeting focused on success factors, challenges and lessons learned from past, ongoing and planned audits. Case studies presented by different supreme audit institutions demonstrated experiences in areas such as climate change adaptation, social policy and EU programme audits, highlighting the value of parallel and coordinated audit approaches.
The key outcome of this activity should be the development of a practical document that brings together tools, methodologies and lessons learned to support future cooperative audits. It also aims to encourage continued cooperation through regular meetings, mainly online, with the open participation of experts directly involved in such audits. Through structured cooperation and knowledge exchange, starting in a month via an online meeting, the aim is to improve the efficiency, quality and impact of cooperative audits.
